Varsity Bailadora Director Caris Dunn

Caris Dunn began her dance training in ballet at age 3 at Tuzer Ballet in Richardson. She grew passionate about dance and performing and continued to expand her dance repertoire to include techniques in ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop, drill technique, gymnastics, and tap. She has trained across the state of Texas, in Los Angeles, and  New York City. Mrs. Dunn has performed in numerous ballets and musicals including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, Oklahoma!, Grease, Once Upon a Mattress, and Guys & Dolls. 

Mrs. Dunn attended Berkner High School in Richardson, TX where she served as Lieutenant her junior year and Captain her senior year of the Berkner Bandoleras Drill Team. She also danced with the Talent N More Senior Stars dance company. While in High School, Mrs. Dunn won numerous solo awards including ADTS National Solo Finalist, and Starmakers National Grand Champion. 

Mrs. Dunn attended Kilgore Junior College where she was a Kilgore Rangerette and Swingster. As a Rangerette, she had the privilege of performing in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC, the Marshall Fields Parade in Chicago, the Indy 500, and in numerous Cotton Bowl and Dallas Cowboys halftime shows. She also was a featured soloist in Rangerette Revels. After Kilgore, she transferred to UT Austin where she performed with the Dance Repertory Theatre, choreographed for S.E.E.D, and served as the Artistic Director of STEEL Dance Company. She also had the privilege of directing the teen and senior companies at The Danceworks dance studio in Round Rock. 

After graduating from UT with a BA in Dance & Theatre, Mrs. Dunn returned to the Dallas area and served as the Director of the Talent 'N More Shining Stars Junior Drill Team before beginning her public high school teaching career at McKinney Boyd HS in 2008.

Her students have gone on to dance successfully on teams such as the Houston Texans Cheerleaders, Dallas Sidekicks Dancers, Kilgore Rangerettes, TVCC Cardettes, and the UT Pom squad. She is an award winning choreographer and has choreographed locally for Richardson Repertory Company Theatre, as well as numerous local drill/dance teams. 

Caris lives in Allen with her husband Clint and two sons Cohen and Caleb.

Mrs. Dunn is excited to share her love and passion for dance and drill team with her students.

Rachel Bowsher is an alumni of McKinney Boyd HS and excited to be back at Boyd teaching dance! Rachel began dancing at the age of 4, but was also active in many sports growing up. In high school, she chose to focus on dance and auditioned for the Bailadoras. During her time on Bailadoras she served as Sophomore Lieutenant and then as a two-year Captain of the Varsity team. She led the Bailadoras to a National Championship in 2018 where they scored near perfect in all dances. While on Bailadoras, Rachel won numerous solo awards including Showtime Regional Champion in her sophomore, junior, & senior years. ADTS Regional Champion her junior year & Showtime Nationals 1st Runner-up her junior year!

After high school, Ms. Bowsher attended Kilgore College where she was a World Famous Kilgore College Rangerette, Swingster, & a member of the modern dance company - Industry. As a Rangerette, she had the opportunity to perform in the UK and at the Cotton Bowl. After obtaining her associates in dance from Kilgore, Rachel attended Texas A&M University where she obtained her Bachelors of science degree in dance. While at A&M, she was an instructor at Pure Energy dance, and was an active member and choreographer for the dance arts society.

Ms. Bowsher has worked for American Dance and Drill Team since the summer of 2019. While on staff, she has gotten the opportunity to teach and choreograph for many different drill teams across the DFW area. She was awarded Rookie Staff Member of the Year in 2019. In 2023, she joined the ADTS Officer Camp Staff and helps design curriculum for officer camps/leadership workshops.

Rachel currently lives in Frisco, but she grew up in McKinney with her parents, Rob and Angie, and two older brothers, Drew and Zach. 

Ms. Bowsher is so excited to return home to McKinney Boyd and share her love of dance with everyone!
